Last week, after being notified of suspicious activity, the City of Falls Church discovered fraudulent checks were cashed using the City’s accounts. The City of Falls Church Police are investigating and other authorities have been notified. The bank will reimburse the City in full after the bank’s internal fraud investigation is complete.
Last week, bank accounts of the City of Falls Church and its School System were hit with over $200,000 in fraudulent withdrawals, City Treasurer Jody Acosta reported to the News-Press today. Neither the City, the schools nor any individual entity doing business with them will be held liable for the stolen money.
Monday, Aug. 30, a female suspect, age 34, of Ft. Washington, MD, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) on W Broad St — 2nd offense.
On the afternoon of Aug. 26, a male suspect of no fixed address, was issued a summons for Trespass on W Broad St, Falls Church, VA.
