Cartoonist Galifianakis to Discuss Work in ArtSpace Talk

Cartoonist and City of Falls Church resident Nick Galifianakis will give a lecture on his work Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 S. Maple Ave., Falls Church.

Galifianakis is a featured artist in Falls Church Arts’ ArtWORKS series, in which local students can learn the career pathways taken by professional artists, and will be making a special presentation Thursday as part of FCA’s Meet the Artist program.

Galifianakis’ work is nationally syndicated alongside the advice column by Carolyn Hax, named by Time magazine as America’s best advice column. In addition to his cartoons, Galifianakis also draws, paints, and writes short autobiographical pieces.

FCA has also invites aspiring artists to sign up for Kat Haverkamp’s portrait drawing class Oct. 5, from 7 – 9:00 p.m. at the Winter Hill Clubhouse on S.Virginia Avenue. The cost for the class is $35.
