Falls Church’s Dogwood Tavern is getting in on the Leap Day fun by serving up kangaroo burgers today for all.

The News-Press got a taste of the marsuipial today and we found the taste reminiscent of venison. It’s a very lean meat and not that juicy, but it packs a rich, sweet and slightly gamey flavor. We recommend holding off on the cheese and excess toppings as they’ll cover up the taste of the meat. Caramelized onions, however, complimented it very, very well.

The “kangaburgers” will be available for $10 all day today until supplies run out. Burgers will be served along with a side.

Dogwood Tavern is located at 132 West Broad Street in Falls Church.
