Meridian Soccer Doubleheader Against Freedom Gets Washed Out

It was set to be a busy night at Meridian High School on Monday, as both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams prepared to take on visiting 6A foe Freedom from South Riding. For the boys, it would be a chance to extend a seven-game winning streak to eight with a statement victory, while for the girls, a chance to get back into the win column after two tough losses and a draw during a three-game road trip last week.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. The boys’ game kicked off at just past 6:00, but despite generating some prime scoring chances early in the going, they were unable to find the back of the net. Freedom scored on a broken play with just under ten minutes left in the first half, but only minutes later,
