The team from Thomas Jefferson Elementary achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge — a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students. In the second of three meets this year, TJ’s 5th-grade team scored 188 out of 200, finishing eighth in the nation. Competing in the Gold Division, third-grader Kate Walters and fifth grader Claire Weatherly each earned a perfect score of 20.
Other TJ students achieving outstanding results were 5th graders: Oliver Hardi, Binyamin Hassan, Lorien Jackson, Alec Mahini, Evija Plummer and Sylvia Witt.
