Mad Fox, State Theatre Team Up for Collab Brew

Two Falls Church hospitality giants have teamed up to create a new, special collaboration beer for The Little City. State Theatre V.I.P.A., the new brew from Mad Fox Brewing Company and the popular F.C. live music venue, is a Session IPA created by Mad Fox CEO and executive brewer Bill Madden and lead brewer Matt Ryan.

“The State Theatre wanted an easy drinking beer that was different enough from the rest of their draft lineup, and it was time for us to brew a Session IPA so it worked out perfectly,” says Mad Fox marketing strategist Melissa Gringol. The V.I.P.A. is brewed with flaked oats which gives the beer a medium body and Australian Galaxy hops provide a tropical aroma.

The beer, which will be available all summer and possibly beyond, is currently on tap at Mad Fox (444 W. Broad St.) and will debut at The State Theatre (222 N. Washington St.) at a special V.I.P.A. release party featuring The Legwarmers on Saturday, July 30.

La Côte d’Or Hosting Fundraiser for Victims of Nice

La Côte d’Or Café will host a fundraiser in August to benefit the victims of the terrorist attack carried out in Nice, France on Bastille Day. The East Falls Church cafe has a special connection to the French city as its owner and head chef, Jacques Imperato, grew up in Nice, worked and went to culinary school there and still has family living in the city.

The “Stand Together for Nice” four course, prix-fixe menu will feature traditional Nice recipes for $45 and 25 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Give for France, an organization supporting the people affected by the Bastille Day attack. Dishes on the special menu include an onion pizza with olive and anchovies, ravioli a la Nicoise and a swiss chard tort.

La Côte d’Or’s Nice fundraiser will take place August 11 from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 – 10 p.m.
