Houses of Worship Host Blanket and Coat Drives

Several houses of worship around the region, including Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, located at 3195 Row St., Falls Church, are hosting one day only blanket and coat donation drives on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The blankets and coats collected will be donated to Syrian and Iraqi refugees in this coordinated effort by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission.

The houses of worship will be collecting clean, gently used blankets and coats. McLean Stake Center, located at 2043 Great Falls Street, McLean, will also be collecting blankets and coats.

Last year, nearly 18,000 blankets were collected and shipped to assist these families. This year’s collection, which ends on December 5, has been expanded to accept coats of all sizes (infants through adults). For more information, visit helpsyrianrefugees.us.
