Park Master Plan Input Sought

The Falls Church Recreation and Parks Advisory Board seeks input on the Master Park Plan for the Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park (601 W. Broad St. or 434 Sherrow Ave.). Community members are invited to the next Board meeting to learn more and share ideas on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Senior Center of the Community Center, 223 Little Falls St.

The 4.2 acre park was closed until recently due to the Coe Branch Stream Restoration project, which created an improved stream channel, water drainage, and water quality. “Now is the perfect time to consider the next phase of improvements on the park,” Danny Schlitt, Director of Recreation and Parks, said in a statement issued by the City. “We’re looking forward to the community’s thoughts on how they want to use it and what the City can do to make it a beloved community park.”

The 2006 Master Park Plan calls for adding educational signage, rain gardens, benches, and landscape beds near the entrances.
