Michael Gardner in Court Thursday

Falls Church resident and former local Democratic Committee chair Michael Gardner is slated to appear in court in Arlington Thursday where a number of motions will be considered related to his October arrest on new charges of alleged child molestation involving a relative in 2009. Gardner had been convicted of molesting two girls in 2011 before that was thrown out by a Virginia high court upon appeal.

Washington, D.C.-based WUSA -TV reported Tuesday that among the motions filed is one seeking admission into evidence of a statement claiming that Gardner’s wife, former Falls Church Mayor Robin Gardner, apparently admitted that her husband conceded guilt in the latest case during a September secretly taped phone call with the girl’s father.
