MEH’s Sperry Takes 1st at Science Research Symposium

Nathan Sperry, an eighth-grader at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, won first place in Chemical Sciences Section C at the Virginia Junior Academy of Science Research Symposium. The symposium was held at Virginia Commonwealth University from May 13 – 15.

Sperry presented his science fair project, entitled, “Does Anthocyanin Really Cause Carrots To Turn Green?” As a section winner, he was invited to give his talk a second time to members of the Virginia Academy of Science.
