F.C. to Celebrate Tree City Honor & Arbor Day April 26

The City of Falls Church has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 36th year in a row, and the City will celebrate the honor at the 122nd anniversary of Arbor Day on Saturday, April 26, with a morning neighborhood tree planting and an afternoon ceremony.

The community is invited to join in the celebration. Volunteers interested in helping with the tree planting 8:30 – noon at a location to be determined should contact Seth Heminway of the Falls Church Village Preservation and Improvement Society at heminway.seth@gmail.com or 703-389-7360.

The Arbor Day ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. in Frady Park, in the 300 block of E. Broad Street, the original site of the 1892 Arbor Day; the rain location is the Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls St. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

The ceremony is co-hosted by the City, VPIS, and the Victorian Society at Falls Church.
