F.C. Offers Solid Waste Reminders & Schedule

The City of Falls Church has released information for City residents and businesses regarding brush collection, leaf collection, and Christmas tree disposal.

After the recent snow and ice storm, residents may have brush in need of collection. As a City emergency was not declared, brush must be bundled correctly or a fee-based special collection will need to be arranged. Brush includes tree branches, small tree stumps, and large shrubs. For more information on how to properly bundle brush, visit fallschurchva.gov/Brush.

To arrange for a special bulk collection of unbundled brush, leave a message at 703-248-5160 (option 4). The fee is $75 per two cubic yards. For more information, visit fallschurchva.gov/SpecialCollection.

Leaf collection will continue through the end of December. All leaves must be at the curb (but not in the street or gutter) by Dec. 22. Unless there are weather delays, no leaf collection will occur after Jan. 1. After the final collection, leaves must be placed in the proper yard waste bags. For more information, visit fallschurchva.gov/LeafCollection.

Christmas trees will be collected free of charge on Wednesdays in January and February (except on City-observed holidays). Those disposing of Christmas trees should place them at the curb after removing plastic bags, rope, and all decorations, including tinsel. Residents who live in apartments and condominiums that receive private trash and recycling service may recycle trees at the brush collection area of the Fairfax County Citizens’ Disposal and Recycling Facility, 4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax. For more information, visit fallschurchva.gov/ChristmasTree.
