Sierra Club Endorses Connelly, Sze in F.C. Council Race

Two of five candidates in this fall’s Falls Church City Council race have been formally endorsed by the Mount Vernon chapter of the Sierra Club, it was announced this week. Candidates Marybeth Connelly and Dan Sze won the endorsements from Virginia’s largest Sierra Club chapter after it invited all five candidates to respond to a questionnaire and interview covering a number of environmental issues relevant to the City.

The issues included the City’s process for developing a community energy plan, participation on regional environmental committees, storm water quality management, tree canopy, smart growth, third party certification for commercial and municipal buildings, and policies for managing municipal solid waste.
