Old Firehouse Teen Center Block Party Celebrates 23rd Year

The Old Firehouse Teen Center, a satellite program of the McLean Community Center, will mark its 23rd Anniversary with a new and improved block party from 4 – 10 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 24. Featuring live entertainment throughout the evening and a variety of activities, the family-friendly event is free and open to the public. OFTC is located at 1440 Chain Bridge Road, McLean.

Another Level will perform an energetic mix of Motown’s greatest oldies, jazz, hip-hop, rock, pop, funk, and soul at the event. The annual “McLean Teens Got Talent” competition also will be held. Free activities include a moon bounce, air-brushed tattoos, spin art t-shirts and a climbing wall. Retired members of the McLean Volunteer Fire Department Station 1, the first and oldest fire station in Fairfax County, will be on hand to share a MVFD 1 living history exhibit.

For 23 years, OFTC has provided a safe place for teens in the community to hang out, attend special events and dances, work on school assignments, make friends and perform community service work.
