Longtime F.C. Resident Nancy Samuelson Dies at Age 59

Nancy Samuelson, 59, of Arlington, passed away on Sunday, July 28. She had been a longtime resident of Falls Church and graduated from Falls Church High School, where she was in the marching band and in various sports. She had been a member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

Nancy got a nursing degree from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in Cardiovascular Nursing at The Catholic University. She had been an intensive care nurse at Doctors Hospital in Arlington and National Hospital for Orthopedics in Alexandria. She was an avid runner, finishing three Marine Corps Marathons in 1979, 1980, and 1981.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Young of Arlington; two sisters, Judy Shapleigh (James) of Falls Church and Robin Lasky (David) of Chantilly; nephew Justin Shapleigh; and nieces Alison Farley, Carly Lasky, and Jackie Lasky.

Funeral services are on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m., at Murphy Funeral Home at 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington.
