NoVa Authority Open House to Discuss Transit Projects

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority will host an open house and public hearing next Thursday, June 20, to discuss the first year of proposed projects to be funded under a bill estimated to bring Northern Virginia $1.9 billion in new transportation funding over the next six years.

The open house will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers at City Hall in the City of Fairfax, 10455 Armstrong St., Fairfax. The open house will be followed by a presentation and the public hearing. There will also be opportunities for public comment during local community meetings to be held in several authority jurisdictions in June and July. The public may email comments on the projects to fy14projects@thenovaauthority.org.

There are a total of 33 proposed projects. Twelve are classified as roadway projects and 21 are classified as transit/multimodal projects. Projects were selected based on specific criteria including their readiness, ability to reduce congestion, and mode balance (between transit, road, and multimodal).
