Bolling Won’t Run for GOP Gubernatorial Nod

Virginia Lieutenant Gov. Bill Bolling announced yesterday that he will not bid for the Republican nomination to run for Governor of Virginia in 2013, leaving only Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli among major candidates to be considered.

Gov. Bob McDonnell, who by Virginia law is not able to seek re-election, issued a statement of warm support for Bollings’ efforts, while the Equality Virginia pro-gay rights advocacy organization swiftly issued a statement of concern that Cuccinelli will likely be the GOP nominee, saying Cuccinelli’s “previous actions as attorney general bullying colleges and universities, the State Board of Social Services and the State Board of Juvenile Justice should be seen as alarming, overreaching and unfair.”
