Here’s yet another unlikely “three-peat” in this third year running of the News-Press’ Best of Falls Church. Yes, Falls Church is chock full of banks, with more being readied, and yet the modest, regionally-owned Burke and Herbert has edged out all its competition for this honor for three consecutive seasons.

What’s the secret? Apparently the same as the last few years: the bank’s No ATM Fee policy has been a huge benefit to them, and combined with a friendly staff of familiar faces, that helps engender a customer-centered atmosphere. Unlike some local branches of the big national banks that seem to think it doesn’t matter if personnel are rotated in and out almost weekly, our winner has gained an upper hand by making coming through its doors almost like a visit to some familiar and friendly neighbors.
