F.C.’s Chavern Appears With Obama at White House

Former Falls Church City Councilman David Chavern, in his capacity as a national leader of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, appeared beside President Barakh Obama in the Rose Garden of the White House yesterday morning while Obama delivered remarks calling for the extension of funding for transportation and FAA bills. Obama noted that Chavern was present along with leaders of the AFL-CIO and are construction companies to demonstrate the widespread support for the extensions.

“Ten years ago,” Obama noted, “our nation’s infrastructure was ranked sixth globally. Today it is 23rd. We invest half as much in our insfrastructure as we did 50 years ago, with more than one and a half the number of people. Everybody can see the consequences, and that’s unacceptable.” In addition to serving on the F.C. City Council, Chavern is also the board chair of the Falls Church Education Association.
