F.C. Council OKs Task Force on Child Development Center, Gardner Designated

A task force to determined potentials for shared use of the City-owned property on Cherry St. where the Child Development Center is located was approved by a unanimous 6-0 vote of the Falls Church City Council tonight, with Council member Robin Gardner designated by the Council’s member.

The task force’s work was targeted to be completed by July 8. The Easter Seals users of the site, who seek continued use there past the November 2011 expiration of their lease, named Marilyn Reicher as their designee for the task force, and the F.C. School Board will select its member at its meeting tomorrow night. The schools are hoping to gain use of the facility by the Fall of 2012 for their pre-school program.

One F.C.citizen, Stuart Rubin, spoke to the City Council requesting to be appointed as the “community member” on the task force, a decision that will be made by City Manager Wyatt Shields.
