F.C. Chamber Advances ‘Hot Spot’ Parking Proposal

The board of the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Tuesday gave unanimous assent to a recommendation that will be forwarded to the City of Falls Church proposing allowance for “hot spot” parking areas in the City’s retail areas. The plan would permit very short 5 or 10 minute parking limits in designated spots near dry cleaners, take-out food services, pharmacies, printers and so forth. The plan is to establish a way that a local retailer could petition City Hall for such a designation in on-street parking locations under the City’s jurisdiction. “In this Internet age, there has been a boom in the ordering of items and services online, such that customers need only stop in to pick up items,” noted Joe Wetzel of the Chamber’s board Tuesday.
