F.C.’s Audit Completed, All Square Now With Richmond

The City of Falls Church’s hiccup in providing its completed, audited financial reports to the Commonwealth of Virginia has been cured with today’s official filing, the F.C. City Council learned at its work session tonight.

The City’s new auditors, from the CPA firm of Brown, Edwards and Co. based in Roanoke, gave its highest “unqualified” thumbs-up to the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report today, confirming that the numbers are right and the City is in compliance with federal, state and its own City code requirements. The delay from December until today in filing the report was due to numerous factors, the auditors told the Council, including the June 2010 loss of its chief financial officer (not replaced until December) and issues surrounding supplemental retirement plan reporting and pending litigation involving the City’s water fund.
