Jody’s Jam of the Week: Falls Church Farmer’s Market

It surprises me that there are still some City residents who still don’t know the awesomeness that is the Falls Church Farmer’s Market. Between the colors, the aromas and just plain massive food selection, the weekly production in the parking lot of City Hall is truly something that needs to be experienced. It’s one of the area’s best. (I heard good things about Vienna’s market. Please. It can’t even compare to F.C.’s.)

In addition, the City has monthly Falls Church Farmers Market demonstrations where area chefs show off their skills, whipping up recipes using food from the market vendors. This month’s featured chef is Restaurant at Patowmack Farms Executive Chef Chris Edwards who will be using potatoes, squash and yogurt in Saturday’s demonstration.

The presentation starts at 9 a.m. and runs ’till 11, and, while the market is popular enough as is, with the demos, it gets really crowded, so make sure you get there early and get a good spot (not to mention a piece of the samples).

What: Falls Church Farmer’s Market & Chef Demonstration; When:  Saturdays, 8 a.m. – noon (Chef Demo: 9 – 11 a.m.); Where: City Hall Parking Lot, 300 Park Avenue, Falls Church
