Lady Statesmen Softball Win Back-to-Back Games

The Marshall Lady Statesmen softball team won their first two games of the season last week.

The Lady Statesmen beat Washington-Lee 6-2 last Thursday. The win came with multi-hit performances from Olivia Ellis, Michelle Tilson, Lauren Sanata, Mina Dunn and Kayla Marsh. Christine Grilliot pitched for a complete game win.

 

On Saturday, the Lady Statesmen shut out Bishop Ireton with a score of 7-0 to start the Hayfield Tournament. Grilliot and Haley Butterfield had a combined pitching shutout giving up only three hits. Sanata and Tilson led the offense with three hits each. Sanata also had four RBIs.

The Lady Statesmen will start Liberty District play with games against McLean High tonight and Fairfax High on Wednesday.
