Jody’s Jam of the Week: NCAA Tournament 2010

As soon as that green beer hangover wears off, it’ll be time to pony up to the pub for that other March tradition: the NCAA Tournament.

As soon as that green beer hangover wears off, it’ll be time to pony up to the pub for that other March tradition: the NCAA Tournament.

One of the biggest time-sucks of the year begins Thursday and with it, offices around the country grind to a halt as sick days get cashed in, lunches push three hours and ESPN.com replaces spreadsheets. If you’re one of the lucky ones that manages to get out of work for the Madness, you’ve got plenty of options on where to watch your bracket get busted.

In Falls Church City, Dogwood Tavern (132 West Broad Street, Falls Church) is the top spot– with the best assortment of T.V.s and beer for your watching and sipping pleasure. In Merrifield, Grevey’s (8130 Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church) will undoubtedly be hoppin’ with their plethora of sets (including a personal LCD at each booth). If you’re in the mood for a mall bar, Gordon Biersch (Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean) in Tysons is an excellent option.

As for me (and my fellow Moutaineers), Arlington’s Ragtime (1345 North Courthouse Road, Arlington) provides everything I need for a tourney watch party: Blue & Gold, beer, food and a little ditty called Country Roads.

What: 2010 NCAA Tournament; When: Starts Thursday, March 18, 2010; Where: Bars, pubs, gin joints, cantinas and TVs everywhere
