Curves of Falls Church is acknowledging National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by encouraging women to do self-exams and take preventative care.

According to the American Cancer Society, the probability of a woman being diagnosed with invasive breast caner during her life is one in eight while the probability of dying from it is one in 35. Curves is emphasizing prevention by waiving the service fee to join Curves for women who bring a mammogram performed within the last year or make a $25 contribution to the American Cancer Society the week of October 26. Falls Church Arts and Creative Cauldron are hosting the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce’s October mixer on Tuesday, October 27 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The event will be held in ArtSpace Falls Church, located at 410 South Maple Avenue. Everyone is invited to come for a tour of the new flexible arts space, to chat with board members from both organizations about plans for the coming year, enjoy a mini-cabaret, and get a sneak peek of We Won’t Pay! Open Kitchen, the new neighborhood bistro and cooking class facility located at 7115 Leesburg Pike, will kick off its Grand Opening celebration with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday October 31.
