The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is accepting nominations through January 15 for its Annual Muse Awards. The awards, which champion creativity and innovation in business acumen, are granted each year to nine Virginia companies that demonstrate a uniquely creative approach to their products, services, campaigns, organizational structure, and/or other corporate aspect. Created in 2005, the Muse Awards are sponsored by VMFA's Business Council, an association of business executives who promote and maintain a dialogue between the business community and the VMFA. Seventy businesses were nominated for the 2007 Muse Awards, and 18 were selected as finalists. Intrinergy LLC received the Top Muse award in recognition of extraordinary creativity in its renewable energy processing. CSI-Capitol Services, Inc., a destination management and special event service provider, has been named a finalist for Best Innovative Event in its budget category by the Association of Destination Management Executives (ADME). ADME’s 2007 Achievement Awards honor event management excellence worldwide with entries submitted from members throughout the US and in nine countries worldwide. CSI is being recognized for overcoming major challenges to produce a community street fair to celebrate the grand opening of a low-income apartment complex and community center in Richmond last summer. Don Beyer Volvo has launched “Green Your Drive”, a collaborative program with Clean Currents, LLC. For every car sold at its Falls Church, Alexandria, Dulles and Winchester showrooms, Don Beyer Volvo will purchase enough Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) through Clean Currents to offset each vehicle’s estimated first year of carbon emissions. The 100% wind powered RECs will offset nearly 15,000 pounds of carbon emissions per vehicle per year. Don Beyer Volvo customers will be able to choose a “green upgrade” option to extend the purchase of RECs to continue offsetting their vehicle’s carbon emissions in years two through five.
