“The Nutcracker,” performed by the Center Dance Company of Arlington, Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 125 S. Old Glebe Rd. (at Rt. 50), Arlington, Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

The burgeoning Center Dance Company and Arlington Center for Dance efforts translate into five performances of this holiday classic this weekend. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Falls Church’s  Emilija Grinvalds, a senior at Marshall High School, dances as the Sugar Plum Fairy. She was one of 12 out of hundreds of applicants from the region to win a $2,000 Washington Post Music and Dance Scholarship this month. There are no less than 13 Falls Churchites in the performance, which is choreographed by Nancie Woods and Caroline Warren. Tickets are available at www.arldance.org or at the door.
