The contest, played on the 90-foot diamond at Annandale High School, began on Friday night, June 22, but when the teams were knotted 13-all and the midnight hour was drawing near, play was suspended until Saturday morning at 10am. The Brewers batted first on Saturday, but could not get a run across, setting the stage for Ferguson’s game-ending heroics when the Rockies came to the plate.

Ferguson had the big bat the whole game, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. He also pitched middle relief between Rockies’ starter Tom Terwilliger and closer William Nixon. Nixon went 2-for-3, including a triple. Andrew Lontok doubled.

Shortly after the title game, the FCABR All Star team was named. The Rockies placed five of their players on the squad: Ferguson, Nixon, Terwilliger, Andy Bladen and Robbie Clark. Brewers on the All Star team are Jon Freeman, Colin Martin, David Peterson and Zack Brooks (as an alternate).

Four All Stars are from the Dodgers, which won the tournament’s third-place game June 22. They are cousins Kellie and Tyler Duncan, Ethan Leventhal and Alex Suarez (as an alternate). Completing the All Stars roster are Mike Pacheco and Cory Karczewski of the Cardinals.

The team, managed by Duane Clark of the Rockies, will play in the Babe Ruth District 6 Prep League All Star Tournament, which begins July 13 at Annandale High School.
