Obituary: William (Bill) Ellis

William (Bill) Ellis, long-time resident of Falls Church, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Bill and his wife, Marilyn, of 50 years moved to the city in 1962.

Bill was appointed to the Falls Church School Board on 13 September 1982 and served until his term expired on 30 September 1985.

Although mostly homebound for the last few years, Bill kept up with international, national and local news by means by his 51 inch Sony television, as well as newspapers and magazines.

To say he was an avid Redskin fan is putting it mildly. Bill had season tickets to the Redskins and he and Marilyn went to every game as long as he was able. Bill could be heard every Sunday giving advice to Joe Gibbs and his coaching staff!

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Jonathan, Jonathan’s wife Sonja, and the apples of his eyes, granddaughters, Portia and Gabriella; his brother, Robert, of Pennsylvania and sister, Kitty Mae of Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bill’s life was held on Sunday, 25 March 2007. Interrment will be at Arlington Cemetery.
