Obituary: Clifford A Thorpe, Jr.

Clifford A Thorpe, Jr.On Sunday, August 13, 2006, Clifford A. Thorpe Jr. died at the Fairfax Nursing Center after a long illness.

Mr. Thorpe served in World War II as a US Coast Guard officer. He was president of Thorpe-Smith, Inc. of Falls Church and publisher of The Professional Surveyor, a trade magazine for the surveying profession. Mr. Thorpe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. He is survived by his wife, June; his son, Lee Thorpe (Ruth) and daughter, Jan Shawen (Edgar) and grandchildren, Alicia Thorpe, Eddie Shawen and Elizabeth Shawen. A brief memorial service was held on Saturday, August 19 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy., Falls Church, Va. Interment will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
