The Wammies, the D.C. area’s premier music award show, attracted hundreds of the hottest musical talents, their production teams and the fans for its fifth consecutive year at Falls Church’s State Theatre last Sunday.
Falls Church will bask in the regional limelight this Sunday evening, as the Washington music scene gathers for the fifth consecutive year in the State Theatre to celebrate the 23rd annual “Wammies” award ceremony.
In days when music is becoming increasingly effect-driven, over-produced and entire acts can be recreated by a complex series of synthesizers, it’s refreshing to hear Akron-based blues rock duo The Black Keys and be reminded that simplicity can still yield a superlative sound.
For more than 20 years, Blues Traveler has built its reputation on its free-flowing live shows on tour and on the festival circuit. It’s only fitting then that the foundation of their latest album, North Hollywood Shootout, is based heavily on spontaneous live jams in the recording studio.
