F.C. Resident to Serve with Virginia Tech Honor System

A Falls Church resident is one of seven students who will serve with Virginia Tech’s Undergraduate Honor System, a board created to provide student input to the process for reviewing cases related to the university’s Honor Code.

Ryan Cabayan, a senior double majoring in international studies and public relations in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Services, was appointed to serve as an associate justice. Chanel Franklin, a senior majoring in mathematics in the College of Science, of Vienna, was also appointed to serve as an associate justice. While holding these positions, the justices serve as educational mentors to students who are accused of academic misconduct.

They are responsible for spending an average of 15 hours a week completing various tasks such as: giving classroom presentations on academic integrity, investigating cases of alleged academic misconduct and making recommendations for action to the assistant provost, and chairing Undergraduate Honor System hearing panels.
