Voter Registration Deadline is Oct. 15

Citizens with a permanent residence is in Virginia and will turn 18 prior to the Nov. 6 election have until Monday, Oct. 15 to register to vote in time for the Nov. 6 presidential and Congressional elections.

All the information is on the web site of the State Board of Elections. Persons can review voter registration status and make sure they are registered at current residences. If not, an application can be downloaded and if mailed in, it must be postmarked by Oct. 15 to meet the deadline. If a young person is registered, but living away from home, her or she can also apply for an absentee ballot by downloading the form off the state website. Absentee ballot applications must be received at the office of the local voter registrar by 5 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 30. Persons can also cast an absentee ballot in person.

Hours vary by jurisdiction, but in the City of Falls Church, the Office of Voter Registration and Elections is now open for this purpose from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday Oct. 27 and Saturday Nov. 3, the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for that purpose.
