Whoa, the painting that is featured in the promotions for this exhibit show two women intently involved in the beheading of some bearded brute. So can we call this the early beginnings of radical feminism? It is certainly interesting to see how in the works of women artists from that era sexual politics are represented. The humanist and democratic values that dominated the Renaissance had to extend to a major push to move beyond the primordial gender roles assigned by Mother Nature to get the species out of the ooze, but no longer required with the rise of science and reason.
