Meridian Field Hockey Stays Perfect, Routs TJ on Tuesday Night

In three games during the season’s opening week, the Meridian field hockey team swept their opponents while refusing to allow a single goal in any of the games. That streak continued on Tuesday night as the Mustangs hosted Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and convincingly won 6-0 to move to 4-0 on the season.

Four of Meridian’s six goals came in an early onslaught, with Cassie DuBois earning the first two tallies, both within the first six minutes. Emily Borum and C. C. Carmody then both found the back of the net late in the opening period, and that was all the scoring until the final frame, where Carmody added a second goal and then Gia Khan tacked on one more for good measure. Brianna Corry did her job in net, while her defensive support made that job easier by forcing Jefferson’s opportunities to be few and far between.

The Mustangs will now have a well-earned week of rest after four games in a span of nine days, and next time they see the field, they’ll be making their first road trip of the season as they play at Liberty-Bealeton on September 5th.
