Left-Wing Hypocrisy in News-Press Editorial
In the November 23 News-Press, the editor treated us with a harangue on sanctuary cities, proudly proclaiming that Falls Church, is, or should be, one. Mean spirited, alt-right, hateful, bigoted, all terms used to describe anyone who disagrees with the in-vogue liberal moral policy prescription of the day. While the scope of the size of the illegal immigrant problem in our country gives anyone – citizen or policy maker – pause, I for one am tired of the name calling for those who think first, that we have a serious problem, that without borders, we do not have a country. Second, that we should control our borders – just look at the deadly heroin epidemic to see one result of open borders.
That the left wing (or alt-left), are pure hypocrites on this issue is provable by this segment below of Bill Clinton’s State of the Union Speech from 1996. He makes President elect Trump look moderate. Today’s alt-left would label him a bigot and a fascist and probably start looking for “safe spaces” to protect themselves from him, those poor delicate snowflakes. He ended this part of the speech with thunderous applause from both the Democrats and Republicans:
“All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country…The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers…That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens,” he continued. “We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”
Oh, and during the Carter Administration, all visas and immigration from Iran were stopped during the hostage crisis. Another example of alt-left hypocrisy.
