Pumpkins ‘n Preparedness 5k to Support First Responders

Capital One is sponsoring the inaugural Pumpkins ‘n Preparedness 5k race to support first responders, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15. The race will start at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, located at 400 Center St. S., Vienna, at 8 a.m.

All proceeds from the race will go to benefit the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System, which was developed by first responders in 2005 and supports a regional approach to coordinated preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery across jurisdiction and discipline boundaries. Raising funds allows the organization to increase its support of local police and fire departments and their partners.

The race organizers will give out awards for the top three runners in ten different age groups. Registration for the 5k, which will be held rain or shine, costs $35. For more information, visit nvers5krace.org.
