Fairfax Co. Police Looking for Man Who Stole Van in F.C.

The Fairfax County Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly stole a 2008 Ford Econoline 350 in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 25, according to a press release from the department.

Police said that the victim, a 55-year-old man, parked the Econoline, which was a van he used for work, in the 6000 block of Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church at around 2 a.m. When he returned to the area a few hours later at around 6:20 a.m., the van was gone, according to police.

Further investigation by detectives revealed that the van was equipped with a camera system and officers obtained a photo of a possible suspect from the video the camera recorded. The potential suspect appeared to have followed a dump truck that may be related to the incident.

The van was recovered later on Thursday, Aug. 25 in Hyattsville, but the potential suspect was not located. The potential suspect was described as black, 40 – 50 years old, with a goatee and glasses. Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts or information about the dump truck is asked to call Detective Fox at 703-246-7517 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131 or contact Crime Solvers at fairfaxcrimesolvers.org, text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637 or phone at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477.
