Registration for English Literacy Classes Begins on Sept. 13

Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, located at 2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church, is opening registration for its English literacy classes on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The organization, which serves nearly 1,500 beginning-level English language and literacy adult learners annually, will start its beginner-level courses on Monday, Sept. 26.

Literacy Council of Northern Virginia’s programs provide general English language instruction, targeted literacy skill development, and language for career-specific pathways through classroom, small group and supplemental tutorial instruction.

“When we think of ‘back to school’ we think about children, but teachers are only part of the child’s education,” said Patricia Donnelly, executive director of Literacy Council of Northern Virginia. “Parents are the first and most important teachers for their children and their engagement in their child’s school is one of the greatest predictor of their child’s success.”

Although the organization is based in Falls Church, classes are available across Northern Virginia. For more information, to see registration dates and times or download the full class schedule, visit lcnv.org/news/fall-2016-classes-it’s-back-school-adults-too.
