Quinn’s Hosts Pair of Auctions in the Next Week

Waverly Rare Books, a division of Quinn’s Auction Galleries, and Quinn’s Auction Galleries are hosting a pair of auctions, one of which is slated for Thursday, Sept. 8 beginning at 6 p.m.

On September 8, Waverly Rare Books will host a 401-lot auction containing fine bindings, first editions, signed space and astronaut items, early printings, illustrated and plate books, religious and sci/tech books and a number of lots devoted to American literature. There will also be an extensive cartographic section features Civil War maps and atlases, including maps of Virginia, New England, New York, the American West and Europe.

Additionally, the sale offers highly desirable historic and modern photographs including examples by Ansel Adams, Carleton E. Watkins and William Christenberry. For collectors of children’s literature, there are several important artworks to consider, including signed watercolors and drawings by Tasha Tudor.

On September 10, Quinn’s Auction Galleries will present a collection that includes beautiful Continental bronzes, American studio pottery, a French-made George Washington memorial mantel clock and a 1917 sterling silver livestock trophy from Red Gate Plantation in Millwood, Va. The auctions starts at 11 a.m.
