Falls Church Teenager Found Dead in Lake Barcroft

A Falls Church teenager that was reported missing in Lake Barcroft on the evening of Thursday, July 14 was found dead in the lake in the early morning hours of Friday, July 15, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police said that they recovered the body of Jeremie Munga, 17, of Falls Church, after it was reported that he was swimming on the evening of July 15 and disappeared from the water’s surface. Witnesses called 911 immediately and directed police, fire and rescue units to the location where he was last seen upon arrival.

Munga’s next of kin have been notified. The county’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. At this time, there does not appear to be anything suspicious and therefore no apparent threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing. The Fairfax County Police Department will provide further updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
