F.C. Residents Raise Funds In Honor of Local Cancer Survivor

Falls Church area residents are holding several fundraisers under the banner “Team Jimmy”  this weekend to raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. The team is named after Jimmy Alverson, a brain cancer survivor and seventh grader at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.

On Saturday, April 30 Team Jimmy will hold a car wash from 12 – 3 p.m. at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church at 225 E. Broad Street. Also, on April 30, Famous Dave’s at 370 W. Broad Street will donate 10 percent of all proceeds from 4 – 10 p.m. to the fundraising effort. Diners must bring a flyer for the fundraiser, which can be found at the Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School Facebook page, to Famous Dave’s for the proceeds from their order to be donated.

On Sunday, May 1, Team Jimmy is inviting people to join them at the Race for the Hope 5K Run/Walk in downtown Washington. Information on registering for the run/walk or donating in support of Team Jimmy can be found at curebraintumors.org.
