Lucky Thai Restaurant Now Open on West Broad
A new Thai restaurant is now open in the City of Falls Church. Family-owned Lucky Thai opened its doors last week in the former Curves space at 240 West Broad Street. The restaurant’s website says owners, the Sirirungsri family, immigrated from Thailand and worked in the restaurant industry for many years. After earlier attempts at securing a location for a restaurant fell through, they eventually landed in Falls Church.
Lucky Thai’s menu features many of the usual Thai dishes like spring rolls, satay, curries, pad Thai and others like roasted duck-filled roti, shrimp spring rolls and deep-fried bananas and ice cream.

Special Doughnut, Half Smoke at Astro for Nats Home Opener
In celebration of the Washington Nationals’ home opener Thursday, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken has teamed up with D.C. sausage maker Meat & Foods for a special half-smoke-and-doughnut combination.
Available on Thursday only, the limited-edition sandwich features a Meat & Foods half smoke between a hotdog-shaped doughnut with Gordy’s pickled jalapenos and mustard. Also on Thursday, Astro will serve a special ballpark-themed doughnut, the Peanuts & Cracker Jack. The caramel-glazed doughnut is topped with peanuts, Ocean City’s Fishers Popcorn and a caramel drizzle.
The special doughnut ($2.65) and sandwich ($6.75) will be available at the Falls Church location starting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Clare & Don’s 1st ‘Beach Fest’ Set for Next Saturday
Falls Church restaurant Clare & Don’s Beach Shack is holding its first annual Beach Fest next Saturday. The all-day, kid-friendly event starts at 1 p.m. and will feature several local bands, food, drinks and even a sand dance floor.
Clare & Don’s Beach Fest will be held from 1 – 7 p.m. on April 16 with advance tickets available for $10, $15 day-of with children under 10 free. Advance tickets can be purchased at beachfest16.brownpapertickets.com.

Free Empanadas at Pollo Campero Friday
As if you didn’t already know, Friday is National Empanada Day and the 
world’s largest Latin chicken restaurant, Pollo Campero, is celebrating with free empanadas.
On Friday, April 8, Campero customers, including to its Falls Church location in Bailey’s Crossroads, will receive their choice of a Latin buffalo, Peruvian verde or guava barbecue empanada for free.
