All F.C. Recreation and Parks Activities Cancelled Due to Snow

The City of Falls Church announced shortly after 2 p.m. today that all recreation and park activities will be cancelled due to the snow and the Falls Church Community Center will be closing at 8 p.m. tonight.

Originally, the basketball games scheduled to be held at the community center were not cancelled, but a later message from the City announced that the basketball games are cancelled. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning earlier today, which will remain in effect until Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 4 a.m.

The winter storm warning said that the region can expect snow accumulation of three – six inches, along with around a tenth of an inch of ice. According to the National Weather Service, sleet will mix with freezing rain this afternoon, change over to all freezing rain this evening. Precipitation will gradually change to rain late tonight.
