Va. Dental Association to Give Free Oral Cancer Screenings

The Virginia Dental Association has partnered with the Fairfax County Park Authority to offer free, two-minute oral cancer screenings at two recreation centers in the area on Friday, Jan. 29 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. as part of the association’s “Where’s the Chair?” series.

Mobile dental chairs will be set up at Audrey Moore Recreational Center, located at 8100 Braddock Road, Annandale, and Spring Hill Recreational Center, located at 1239 Spring Hill Road, McLean. The event is part of the Virginia Dental Association’s “Open Wise” campaign.

“We are excited to bring our ‘Where’s the Chair?’ campaign to Fairfax County,” says Dr. Richard Taliaferro, president of the Virginia Dental Association. “We expect to catch the public by surprise with the dental chair in such an uncommon place, but every Virginian needs to be screened for oral cancer so why not take the message right to the people?”
