F.C. City Manager Shields Wins Bikenetic Race

Falls Church City Manager Wyatt Shields, who raced for Team Bikenetic at BikeneticX presented by Lost Rhino Brewing on Sunday, Dec. 13, won the Men’s Category 5 Rookie Cyclocross race during the competition.

The race, sponsored by Bikenetic in Falls Church, takes place annually at Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton. Cyclocross races run multiple laps on a 3-km loop over grass, gravel, sand, mud, and pavement, with obstacles that require dismounting and carrying the bike.

Over 500 racers competed at BikeneticX, in age, gender and experience categories, as well as in an Anything Goes race that featured costumes and everything from a unicycle to a recumbent bike.
