F.C. Residents Break Records At NoVa Senior Olympics

Several Falls Church residents broke records and won medals at the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics, which took place from September 12 – 25.

Mandy Whalen broke a record in women’s diving, the women’s 200-meter run and the women’s 400-meter walk. Elizabeth Jasper is the new record holder in the women’s football throw. Micheal Coleman was part of a rowing team that set a record in men’s rowing. His teammates were Mark Mildorf, Rick Schapira and Barry Shelkin.

Mary Lou D’Alessandris won gold medals in the women’s free throw and women’s field goals competitions. Martiza Serrano was part of a team that won first place in the women’s volleyball competition in the age 50-54 division. Sara Abarca was part of a team that won first place in the women’s volleyball competition in the age 55-59 division.

Gloria Pinto was part of a team that won first place in the women’s volleyball competition in the age 60-64 division. Kathryn Chandler won a gold medal in the age 65-69 division in the women’s golf competition. For more information and a full list of winners, visit nvso.us.
