Cindy Wackerbath, an educator with the Monarch Teach Network, announced in an email to the News-Press that there will be a release of monarch butterflies at the Falls Church Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Sept. 19. The release will occur at 10:30 a.m. on the corner of Little Falls Street and Park Avenue, weather permitting.

The monarch butterflies will be migrating to Mexico and arriving there on approximately November 1, but they need way stations for their trip. For directions on how to create a way station, visit monarchwatch.org. The release is being coordinated by volunteers with the Monarch Teacher Network.
