Falls Church Area Fire Causes Over $37,000 in Damage

by Kate Karstens

A fire in the Falls Church area on Saturday afternoon caused an estimated $37,500 to a single-family townhouse at 2125 Dominion Heights Ct., the Fairfax County Fire Department reported this morning on their website.

Investigators have ruled the fire as accidental with the cause being an electrical converter box placed too close to combustibles, the fire department said on their website.

Firefighters confronted smoke and flames from the top floor of the two-story, middle unit, townhouse. Responders from Fairfax County extinguished the fire in 10 minutes.

Four occupants of the building were able to escape unharmed, which the fire department credited to smoke detectors alerting the inhabitants before the fire evolved. The fire displaced the occupants, but they are receiving support from the Red Cross, according to the County Fire Department.
